How can I support Shelley at the DFL Caucus?
Understand the Caucus
The DFL Caucus Night is Tuesday, April 8. All over Minneapolis, residents of each ward will gather to select delegates to endorse a DFL candidate; Ward 2 residents will meet at Pratt Elementary School. Registration starts at 6:30pm and the call to order will begin at 7:00pm. Now is the time to caucus for a DFL candidate at the DFL precinct caucuses.
DFL caucuses are held to organize the local DFL party chapter through a gathering of local members of the DFL party. I am one of the candidates that is actively seeking the DFL endorsement for Ward 2 Minneapolis City Councilmember. As a former DFL legislator who has previously been endorsed by the DFL, I understand the importance of a candidate earning the DFL endorsement at the caucus. The endorsement carries a strong commitment to the DFL platform that can be crucial for a successful campaign.
Attend the Caucus
By attending the caucus as someone who is interested in the endorsement of a DFL candidate, you are helping to ensure that supporters of non-DFL candidates do not block a DFL endorsement. In order to benefit from the coordinated efforts of the Minneapolis DFL, everyday members of the DFL party must participate in these events to ensure their voices are heard.
Caucus for Shelley
Showing up to the caucus supporting me or even uncommitted with an open mind to listen to the candidates who are actively seeking the DFL endorsement is beneficial. More supporters showing up on caucus night means a higher chance of an endorsement happening at the ward convention.
You can also help out the serious DFL candidates at the DFL caucus by volunteering to serve as a delegate at the Ward 2 Convention on May 3. When you register at the caucus, you can indicate that you would like to be a delegate to the ward convention.
Understanding how the DFL caucus works, attending the caucus, and caucusing for me are all ways that you can support me, our community, and the DFL.
At the caucus, you are not just attending a meeting. It is a direct way to have your voice heard and your opinion shape who our party supports. The DFL caucus is a chance to immediately influence our community and ensure that the DFL party means something in Minneapolis.
I hope to earn your support on Tuesday,
Shelley Madore
Candidate for Minneapolis City Council, Ward 2
