Success at the Ward 2 DFL Convention!

The Ward 2 DFL Convention yesterday was a success! The turnout was incredible, with dozens of our neighbors participating in the DFL Caucus and Convention process for the first time. It was an exciting confirmation that Ward 2 DFLers are ready for a change in their representation, and that they see me as that change.

Despite the decision by a group of people to treat the DFL convention like a general election instead of an internal party procedure, yesterday proved that I have the backing of many DFL party members. I am invigorated by the support I received yesterday and will continue my pledge to campaign to the general election on November 4, 2025.

Without the cynical tactics of delegates supporting a “no endorsement” vote, I am confident that we would have left the convention with a DFL endorsed candidate for the first time in 20 years. “No endorsement” delegates forced the convention to end at 3:00pm, allowing only one ballot before adjournment. That ballot showed that I am the viable DFL candidate, as I received a clear majority of the votes: 53% overall and 90% of voters who wanted an endorsement.

The generous act of Michael Baskins to step aside at the convention was a complete surprise that I remain so grateful for. It showed that the DFL was committed to making an endorsement yesterday. Our neighbors spoke to me about how excited they were to see a DFLer campaigning to represent Ward 2 again, and I will not let the current representative continue to disrupt this from happening.

Even without an endorsement yesterday, I am a proud Progressive Democrat who has been campaigning with Democratic party principles throughout my entire career. I am a DFL candidate for the Minneapolis City Council and I know that with the help of strong DFLers like you, we will again have a DFLer in office for Ward 2. I appreciate your continued support and I know that we will continue to be successful through the election.

We are all committed to change, committed to Minneapolis.
