Why I am Running for Minneapolis City Council
Experience Matters
My name is Shelley Madore and I am running to represent Ward 2 on the Minneapolis City Council. As a lifelong community organizer and former DFL state legislator, I have a proven track record of leadership, advocacy, and policy reform. I authored dozens of bills in one term, spearheading healthcare, transportation, and aff ordable housing reforms.
Community Matters
I know that public safety, aff ordable housing, economic development, and government transparency are some of the key issues that residents of our ward are concerned about in this election cycle. These are matters that concern me as well, and I am ready to address them with eff ective solutions.
During my time in the Minnesota Legislature, I never left a constituent concern unaddressed. I held monthly meetings in the community to gather feedback from residents, and then worked to immediately fi nd and implement answers.
Ward 2 deserves a council member who is committed to listening to constituents, taking action, and working to build a future where every resident thrives.
Minneapolis Matters
I live in Minneapolis because I love Minneapolis. Recently our community has faced many obstacles, but I never back down from a challenge. Whether it’s working to address the issues in aff ordable housing, economic opportunity, or public safety; we need a leader who listens,
advocates, and creates policies with Minneapolis in mind. It is time for our city council to value our city as much as the community does.
We live in a unique city with historic neighborhoods, diverse communities, and a wide range of political viewpoints. However, we share a common belief: that our community can work together to make Minneapolis better.
I am running because I believe in the power of community, and I believe in Minneapolis.
